The Gambia Volleyball Federation will conduct a 5-day national referee course in The Gambia from 24 to 28 July 2015 at BO Samega Janneh Hall in Serrekunda East.

The course is supported by the Confederation of African volleyball CAVB.

This would be the first national referee course conducted under the revitalized Gambian federation that recently changed leadership.

Participants will be drawn from all the regions in the country and the federation is prioritizing more women involvement in the game.

It is in the framework of the implementation of the CAVB Strategic Plan to develop, spread and activate the Volleyball and Beach Volley all over Africa.

Mr Jaouad Berrada(FIVB Instructor) from Morocco has been nominated to facilitate this course.

The president of the GVBF, Yunusa Barry, expressed his satisfaction on the commitment from his executive and promised to do more capacity building in the near future.

The objective of any Gambia Volleyball Federation development activity is to ultimately improve the volleyball experience of those who wish to play the game and promote it.

Building the skills and capacities of the individuals responsible for providing this volleyball experience is therefore key to this objective.

GVBF development programmes cover a wide array of initiatives - from courses to build the skills of referees and coaches locally to the support of promotional activities to raise the profile of the game while enticing young people to play volleyball.
