Gambia Women U-17 wallop GFA selection in friendly

As part of their preparations for the 2012 FIFA U-17 World Cup qualify round slated for 10 March 2012, the Gambia Women U-17 team on Friday came from one-nil down to beat a GFA selection women team 6-1 in a friendly game at the Brikama Box Bar Mini-stadium.

The GFA Women Selection team opened the score through Oulay Njie in the 6th minute from a brilliant free-kick to give her side the lead.

The Gambia Women National U-17 team fought back to level the score through Awa Demba in the 32nd minute to cancel Ouley Njie’s opener.

Upon resumption of the game, Gambia Women U-17 Team brought in fresh legs and mounted heavy pressure on the GFA selection team, who succumbed to the pressure leading to Awa Demba netting the second goal in the 50th minute.

Adama Tamba scored the third goal in the 78th minute, and Isatou Jallow’s 80th-minute goal made it 4-1.

Awa Demba again scored the fifth and sixth goals in the 87th and 90th minutes of the game.

The game ended 6-1 in favour of the Gambia Women National team.
