Businessman Shaidou Medage recently testified in the trial of one Mamadou Maizoumbou, who is charged with stealing from a dwelling house, before the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court presided over by Magistrate Jallow.

Testifying for the prosecution, Medage told the court that he recognised the accused and could recall 5 June 2011.

He said that on the aforementioned date, the accused met him in the house of his brother, one Alieu, and said he wanted to create a problem for Alieu.

The accused saw the money on the table and took it and went away, the witness explained, saying that the accused told him that he was not afraid of anyone, because Alieu was the owner of the money.

He added that at the time, Alieu had gone to work and he (the witness) went and reported the matter to the Serekunda Police Station and was told to go and look for the accused.

He said the accused was arrested after three days, adding that his statement was later recorded at the said police station.

The case at that juncture was adjourned until 30 June 2011.
