Momodou Bah, a resident of Yundum Village, recently testified in the trial of one Mariama Badjie, who is standing trial for common assault before the Brikama Magistrates’ Court presided over by Magistrate Babucarr Secka.

In his testimony, Bah told the court that on a certain day in 2011, he was in his house when his daughter came and informed him that his wife, Mariama Badjie, the accused, was fighting with one Isatou Kolley, the complainant.

He went to separate them, he said, adding that Isatou’s uncle, Ebou Njie, also came and joined him to separate them.

Bah testified that he later took his wife to the house and Ebou Njie also took the complainant to her house.

He said another uncle of the complainant, Inspector Pa Wally Njie, called the police to come and arrest the accused person, adding that at the station, Inspector Njie narrated everything to the station officer.

He further told the court that the accused person wanted to show him that he was not present, but the station officer asked her to “shut up”.

The accused was later detained till the following day, he said.

The case at that juncture was adjourned till 12 July 2011.
