Pointsport has leant from authoritative sources that Besenty Gomez has called it quit from the position of executive secretary of the National Sports Council.
Following rumours from certain quarters with regard to the resignation of Mr Gomez, Pointsport yesterday contacted Deputy Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Abdoulie Kah, who told this paper that Mr Gomez "has tendered his resignation as Executive Secretary" on medical grounds.
DPS Kah said there was "no problem" between Besenty and the ministry, noting that during his time as executive secretary he worked closely with the ministry.
Besenty Gomez, he added, also had a very good working relationship with all the satellite institutions within the ministry.
"Besenty was very professional in his work and has served the position very well and is purely doing this [resigning from the post of executive secretary] in order to have time to treat himself," Kah stated.
He said Mr Gomez had categorically made it clear to them that he had not secured job anywhere as a reason for leaving them. "It is purely on health grounds," he emphasised.
Sources revealed that Gomez had left office yesterday.
It would be recalled that Mr Gomez replaced Alieu Cham as executive secretary of the National Sports Council.
