As the 2009-10 Gambia Football Association (GFA) Second Division League Championship, which is expected to get underway on February 3rd 2010, the newly promoted Banjul United FC have started training ahead of the championship.
Speaking to Pointsport at their training grounds at Gambia Senior Secondary School in Banjul, the Head Coach of Banjul United, Majorr Saine, said they are preparing well for the league championship. As he put it, his boys are determined and hoping to stay in the Second Division.
According to him, his team has performed extremely well in the just ended Eda Carr Africell sponsored Banjul pre-season tournament. Unfortunately, he said they were eliminated by the Gambia Football Association national Division One league outfit Gamtel in the semi-final.
Coach Saine further stated that his team finished on top in the just GFA Third Division triangular tournament after beating Farato Academy FC 3-1 and drew 1-1 with Flamemins FC, respectively.
He said one of his plans is to stay in the Second Division as starters.
