Underdog side Senior Lions of Bakau have at last sealed their first win in the ongoing Bakau Naweetan after they crushed to a famous 1-nil mauling of Scantours in style following Sunday’s hitting encounter at Real de Banjul Football Field in Bakau.
The win has pushed the old hands to 3rd place on the league table with four points in five matches. They are also four points behind the Group D table toppers Luniburg but have a game more to play to wrap up the first round fixtures. Scantours are struggling at the bottom of the Group with only 3 points and face the prospect of first round elimination because even a win in their remaining match will absolutely not be enough to see them through to the next stage of the campaign.
Senior Lions got off to a slow start to the campaign after conceding a 1-nil defeat to Saul Samba but resumed their quest for silverware with a breathtaking scoreless result against highly rated Lubiburg.
That result was met with great surprise by a teeming number of the supporters that travelled to the Stadium to watch the two sides play on 7 October 2011 in the team’s second game in the competition.
They continued their journey but got stuck by a disappointing defeat at the hands of Magadan, who mauled them 1-nil to record their second win of the campaign.
