The criminal trial of one Omar Jallow, who was alleged to have stolen a mobile phone and D350, continued recently at the Kanifing Magistrates' Court before Magistrate Tabally with the testimony of one Baba Barry.
Barry told the court that he is a driver, and recognised the accused person.
He recalled that, on 19th October 2010, while on his way home from work, he saw the complainant, Haddy Manneh, near Westfield Clinic walking very fast and when he called the accused person, who refused to answer.
According to him, the complainant told him to help her apprehend the accused person, because he stole from her.
The second prosecution witness said: "I follow the accused person up to a certain point, and said to him that, "the complainant said you stole a mobile phone and cash of D350 from her."
The accused, the witness added, then took out the mobile phone from his pocket, and said he picked it from the ground.
PW2 further said that the accused was taken to the PIU where a search was conducted on him, but nothing was found in his possession.
The accused was later taken to the Kanifing Estate Police Station, and he (the witness) made a statement to that effect.
The case was adjourned till 15th November 2010 for continuation.
