Absence of magistrate delays Gov’t officials trial

Dec 9, 2016, 11:22 AM | Article By: Dawda Faye

The absence of magistrate Kebba Baldeh of the Banjul Magistrates’ Court yesterday delayed the case involving 24 government officials.

Because of the magistrate’s illness, the case could not proceed, and was adjourned by the clerk until 21 December 2016.

The 24 government officials were arraigned and charged with neglect of official duty and abuse of office.

They denied any wrongdoing.

The prosecution is yet to bring forward their witness to testify, after four months of argument between the prosecution and the defence.
