9 arraigned for criminal trespass, theft

Nine accused persons were on Monday arraigned at the Brikama Magistrates’ Court, charged with criminal trespass and stealing, charges they had denied.

The accused are Ebrima S. Bojang, Lamin Marong, Ebrima Dahaba, Musa Nyabally, Sainey Tamba, Kebba Badjie, Malang Sonko, Sedia Sanyang and Ebrima Nyabally. 

According to the particulars of offence on count one, the accused persons on 1 January 2012, at Banjul International Airport, in the West Coast Region, entered into the land of the Gambia Civil Aviation Authority with intent to commit an offence.

Count two stated that on the same date and at the same place, they stole from the aircraft aluminium scrapped metal valued at US$1million, equivalent to thirty million dalasi, being the property of Slok Airline Gambia Limited.

Meanwhile, the case file was sent to the Attorney General Chambers for legal advice, and the case adjourned till 31 May 2012.
