
The workshop brought together twenty-eight (28) participants across Africa.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, President of The Gambia Football Federation (GFF), Lamin Kaba Bajo, who also doubles as president of WAFU, congratulated the participants.
Bajo thanked them for their attendance and participation during the workshop.
He emphasised the importance of capacity building in the development of football.
"We at the level of the executive will continue to give priority to capacity building, stating that personally, I see capacity building as a strong pillar of football development.
I have no doubt that the knowledge gained from the workshop would be shared to their respective countries by organising trainings,’’ Bajo posited.
He commended the efforts of the technical director and staff for lining up a very important and useful programmes over the year.
Bajo also commended the Secretariat staff for a job well done.
He assured that his executive would continue to organise such trainings in the near future.
Director of Competition of WAFU, Abdoulie Ceesay, revealed that it’s the core responsibility of WAFU to train their officials.
He stated that the training was specifically for general coordinators and match commissioners.
Ceesay further stated that the purpose of the training is to be in line with CAF and FIFA standards.
Executive Director of WAFU Zone A, Mapateh Gaye, pointed out that the two day training equipped competition and officials.
Gaye added that they trained their officials to equip as professionals.
He lamented that CAF send their instructor to train them.
Gaye revealed that 28 participants from different countries participated in the workshop.
‘‘Every country send in two match commissioners and two general coordinators.
All participants were presented certificates of attendance at the end of the training’’Gaye said.
