YWAG SG secures place at Chinua Achebe Literary Festival

Rising Gambian poet and secretary general of the Young Writers Association of The Gambia (YWAG), Kebba S. Juwara has successfully secured a place as a participant in the upcoming Chinua Achebe Literary Festival and Memorial Lecture.

 

The event is slated for 16th November 2022, at the Prof. Kenneth Dike State Central e-Library (Anambra State Central e-Library) in Awka, Anambra State, in the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Juawara is one of the country’s rising poets fondly called ‘The Panacea Poet’. He is amongst the few that were shortlisted by the jury from hundreds of applications across the region.

Kebba was born in Sanjal Kani Kunda Suba in Upper Badibu. He started his basic education in Sinchu Njabo Basic Cycle and later moved to Bakoteh Proper Lower Basic School and then to Busumbala-Farato Lower Basic School, where he completed his primary education in 2009, before moving to Mingdaw for his junior secondary. Later, he proceeded to St. Peter’s High School, where his interest in literature even intensified.

After his graduation in 2015, he got admitted into The Gambia College where he majored in English language and Agriculture to become a teacher teaching English language, Literature and Agriculture.

Kebba compiled a collection of poems on contemporary matters ranging from social economic and political issues. His work is also regularly featured on social media platforms and by newspapers.
