At the event, Ngai Tunkara, president of the Association expressed delight with the initiative, pointing out that the cleaning exercise is key in improving the health care services at the facility.
‘If we keep our environment cleaned, we can stand firm in combating a lot of diseases in the country.’
Tunkara called on youths to take responsibility and be supportive to the people as the youths are the agents for change.
The association, he added, also organises study classes and quiz competition for free to students, an initiative aimed at improving quality and accessible education to the people in rural areas.
Mamadi Camara, Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of the Kuntaur Health Center, outlined that promoting a healthy environment and improving health care conditions of the people should be a concern for every Gambian, as a healthy nation is a wealthy nation.
Also speaking, Ebrima Bah, District Youth Chairperson, who was in attendance, thanked members of the association for the bold step they took to ensure sanitation at the district health center.
He lauded the participation and role of youths in national development endeavours, noting that they are integral in national development initiatives.
