This divine help was disclosed on Tuesday at the official launching of the 2024 Q-Ndogou held at QCity premises in Bijilo.
Speaking at the event, which featured religious leaders across the seven regions of the country, Lamin Yaffa, Head of Sales and Distribution at QCell, disclosed that this year they are going to visit 300 locations across the country.
“We are visiting the prisons, madrassas, mosques, security installations among others, and each of these locations will receive 30 bags of rice, five bags of sugar, and ten crates of dates,” he explained.
This edition is the sixteenth annual Q-Ndogou since its inception, he pointed out, saying: “We increase our number of locations yearly and the aim is to help the Muslim Ummah during the holy month of Ramadan and we do similar engagement for the Christian communities as well.”
Q-Group Chairman Muhammed Jah, in his launching statement, said: “We are very happy to launch the 16th edition of Q-Ndogou today.” He disclosed that 300 places including Arabic schools, mosques, and prisons will benefit from their benevolent gesture.
Mr Jah added: “Q-Group is not televising the gesture for popularity. Many people in The Gambia can offer similar humanitarian services. Therefore, the company is televising the gesture so that others would emulate us with the objective of helping needy people in the country.”
The gesture, he says, is part of Q-Group’s commitment to supporting needy people in the country, as a way of contributing their quota towards nation building.
“Ramadan is a month of blessings; thus it’s important that we all ask the blessings from the Almighty Allah,” the patriotic and humanitarian business guru said. “I also want to sincerely thank the Supreme Islamic Council (SIC) of The Gambia and all religious leaders for their role in advancing Islam in the country.”
He says he is of the belief that their initiative is also serving as an inspiration to many NGOs and institutions venturing into this type of gesture.
Muhammed Jah hailed the staff of Q-Group for their immense contribution to the development of the company, saying it’s among the reasons Q-Group was able to sustain “this wonderful and important gesture annually”.
For his part, Sheikh Essa Foday Darboe, President of the Supreme Islamic Council, spoke on the significance of helping Muslims especially during Ramadan. He thanked the donor profoundly for their continuous support to needy Muslims over the years.
“If anyone gives food to a fellow Muslim to break his or her fast during Ramadan, then the individual will have the same reward as the one who is fasting,” Sheikh Darboe said.
He urges Muslims to pray and ask the Almighty Allah to bestow more blessings on Q-Group to go from heights to heights. He implored the people of The Gambia to empower Q-Cell by way of subscribing to their network.
Q-Group comprises about nine companies, including Q-Cell - a telecommunication company, QuantumNet Institute of Technology (QIT), Arab Gambia Islamic Bank (AGIB), Qodoo Mobile Money, Espace Motors, Q-City (Sport avenue), QTV and Q-Radio.
