The MOU outlines the collaborative efforts between Plantation Nurseries and MoBSE for the implementation of the Green Schools Tree Planting Initiative.
In his remarks, Ebrima Sisawo, Permanent Secretary at MoBSE, highlighted the importance of environmental education in schools and commended Plantation Nurseries for their commitment to sustainable practices. He emphasised the need for such partnerships to address environmental challenges and promote sustainable development.
Samba Faye, chief executive officer (CEO) of Plantation Nurseries, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to collaborate with MoBSE on the initiative. He emphasised the role of young people in environmental conservation and stressed the importance of instilling a sense of environmental responsibility in future generations.
Ambassador Bokarr Sey, consultant for Plantation Nurseries, emphasised the economic and social benefits of tree planting, particularly in terms of food security, climate resilience and community development. He highlighted the potential for the initiative to serve as a model for other countries facing similar environmental challenges.
The signing ceremony concluded with a commitment from all parties to work closely together to ensure the successful implementation of the Green Schools Tree Planting Initiative. The initiative represents a significant step towards a greener, more sustainable future for The Gambia, driven by the collective efforts of Plantation Nurseries, MoBSE and other key stakeholders.
