The inaugural show, titled “Big & Bold Touring Exhibition 2026/27”, will be staged at ART27’s new permanent gallery space in Tujereng, West Coast Region.
The 360-square-metre facility is designed as a hub for creativity and cultural exchange, with a focus on large-scale works by resident artists.
According to Ferenc Donderer, founder of the ART27 Artist Group and owner of the gallery, the exhibition will feature 25 to 30 paintings in 100x140cm format.
The pieces were produced during the ART27 Residency Program, which was launched in June 2026 and has already attracted emerging and established artists from across the region.
Following a four-week run in Tujereng, the exhibition will embark on a regional tour with scheduled stops in Senegal and other West African countries.
“This is more than just an exhibition, it is a statement of intent,” Mr. Donderer said. “We are building sustainability for Gambian fine arts, creating visibility for our artists, and positioning The Gambia as a serious player in the regional art landscape.”
Beyond the exhibition, ART27’s long-term vision for the Creative Hub includes educational programmes, youth support initiatives, artist exchanges, and the expansion of its residency model.
With the December launch, organisers expect to draw art lovers, collectors, critics, and cultural stakeholders from across the region, offering a major platform to showcase the vibrancy of Gambian contemporary fine arts.
