Following the launch of the People-Centred Border Governance in The Gambia: GIS Reform Phase II project, the Geneva Centre for Security Sector Governance (DCAF), led by Mr Mark Lynch, held a meeting with the Director General of Immigration, Ebrima Mboob, to discuss implementation plans.

The meeting, which took place at the Gambia Immigration Department (GID) Headquarters on Wednesday, 4 February 2026, centred on upcoming activities under the Swiss-funded project.

Discussions focused on the development of key operational documents, including the GIS Manual and the Complaints Manual for the Human Rights and Professional Standards Unit. The project will also deliver capacity-building training sessions covering ethics, integrity, human rights, service standards, and other thematic areas designed to strengthen GIDโ€™s mandate and operations.

The meeting reaffirmed the strong partnership between GID and DCAF in advancing institutional reform. Both institutions reiterated their commitment to building an immigration service that is people-centred, service-driven, and compliant with international human rights standards.

Officials highlighted that the initiative builds on the successes of previous reforms and represents a significant step towards promoting institutional growth and ensuring that The Gambiaโ€™s immigration system reflects best practices in governance and accountability.
