The KMC nominated councillor during his testimony also tendered an activity report of the Kanifing Municipal Youth Committee (KMYC) of which he is a member.
According to him, he only attends KMYC meetings when he is available, saying: “I did not take part in the formulation of the document (activity report),” he said, while acknowledging that he was consulted, but he couldn't provide evidence of consultation.
“Apart from the KMYC, do you have an activity plan as a councillor which you prepared on your own?” Lead Counsel Patrick Gomez asked.
Kemo responded that it is not part of his mandate to prepare an activity plan. However, he said he usually takes part in the formulation of the council activity reports.
Commenting on the challenges faced by young people in KMC, he said: “Unemployment and recreation is among the issues affecting young people in the region.
He claimed to have initiated some youth empowerment projects in the area, which included the ‘Batch Car initiative.’
“This initiative was meant to give young people the tricycles for repayment within a year. I also initiated a D20M revolving loan with the Supersonicz Microfinance, the Renovation of Community Centers, D1M from the Youth Empowerment Project (YEP) for three businesses belonging to young people,” he claims
However, he added that he didn’t have documents of this projects as they were with the KMC. Bojang was further asked to provide the commission with the said documents.
Lead Counsel Patrick Gomez asked the witness to explain or provide clarity on the relationship between the KMC and the KMYC, and whether his activities were that of the KMC or KMYC.
Kemo stated that the KMC collaborates with the KMYC, adding: “The activities are done in collaboration but not a partnership,” he clarified
