Holron Academy marked a significant milestone in its educational journey with its inaugural graduation ceremony, held at the WAII Hall in Kotu.

Eleven students graduated, becoming the first cohort to complete their studies at the institution since its establishment five years ago.

Principal Mr John D. Senesie delivered an inspiring address, urging the graduates to become ambassadors of their alma mater and to uphold the values of excellence and purpose as they navigate life beyond the classroom. Drawing from the timeless poem Desiderata, he encouraged students to build upon the academy’s early achievements and to remain grounded in character and ambition.

Mr Senesie also appealed to parents and guardians to take an active interest in their children’s education. He emphasised the importance of regular visits to the school, attending PTA meetings, and staying informed about both academic and social progress.

“Timely payment of school fees is vital,” he noted, “as it remains the sole source of funding for the school’s operations.”

He further advised students to maintain modesty in their dress, both within the school and in wider social settings, and announced the availability of a Guidance Counsellor on campus to support student welfare.

In his closing remarks, the principal expressed heartfelt gratitude to parents, staff—both academic and auxiliary, and the school’s benefactors, including Gambian Lebanese International School (GLIS), Gambia Electrical Company (GEC), and Gambia Pastoral Institute (GPI), among others.

Guest speaker Mr James S. Minah delivered a inspiring message to the graduating class, describing them as future leaders, innovators, and change-makers.

“The world needs you more than ever before,” he declared. “Every creativity and passion will shape the course of history.”

He challenged the students to offer practical and innovative solutions to the challenges facing their communities and the world at large.

The ceremony featured poetry recitals and choreographed dance performances by students, adding a vibrant cultural touch to the occasion.

Miss Mariama Jalloh, the Head Girl, delivered the vote of thanks, expressing appreciation to all who contributed to the success of the event. Awards were presented to outstanding students, with Bai Mataar Drammeh receiving the Best Overall Student accolade.

The event was attended by the school’s proprietress, teachers, families, friends, and well-wishers, all gathered to celebrate the achievements of the pioneering graduating class.
