Turkish envoy joins UTG's VC Robinson, students in mass tree planting

The initiative forms part of a joint commitment to environmental sustainability and climate action during the planting of over 125 trees at the State of the Art educational campus in Faraba Banta.

At the event, both ambassador Turker Oba and Robinson underscored the significance of the three-year partnership between their institutions, stressing their resolve for its sustainability.

Both urged the general student body to nurture the trees to growth for the benefit of the whole of the university community.

Meanwhile, in memory of the late UTGSU Vice President, Senator Yunusa Mbye, who was subsequently serving as a Graduate Assistant at the time of his death, and the late Anta Hydara, who died after a tragic accident, the Ambassador Turker Oba and Vice Chancellor Herbert Robinson planted a tree, marking a lasting tribute to these fallen students and theories legacies.

The planted tree was meant to recognise and celebrate their immense contributions to the University of The Gambia.
