The presentation was held at the charity’s lodge at Fass Njaga Choi village in Lower Nuimi District, North Bank Region.
It would be recalled that last month, the UK charity also extended similar support in the form of bags of rice to 94 of its sponsored students at the same school. Similarly, sponsored students in other schools across the country also benefitted from such generosity.
Karamo Manjang, HELPING Charity Sponsorship Coordinator, said the charity’s mission is to work with local communities to improve the livelihoods of disadvantaged children through education and welfare support.
He thus challenged children to focus on their education, making reference to a popular adage that ‘to whom much is given, much is expected.’
Manjang encouraged sponsored students that ‘if they are serious with their education’ their sponsors wouldn’t mind to continue sponsoring them up to university level. “The charity is currently sponsoring over 350 students across the country.”
Sarjo Sarr, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for HELPING Charity, called on students to maintain respect and be steadfast in their educational pursuit especially those in grades 9 and 12.
He also urged parents to always notify them before they transfer their children to other schools, reminding students that nothing is more fortunate than to have someone who would sponsor them until one completes grade 12 and even beyond.
Ousman Corr, HELPING Charity board member, expressed similar sentiments. “Most people in the area are poor and cannot affort to pay for their education that is why the charity is sponsoring them.”
Corr thus urged parents and students to work harder in order to ensure that they reach higher heights.
He indicated that HELPING is a charity with a difference and further prayed to God Almighty to continue blessing all behind the programme.
Ajara Lowe, a parent from Fass Njaga Choi, acknowledged that the monetary support extended to the community, has helped some of them greatly in both their household needs and to buy uniform, shoes, bags, books and even school fees. “I want to thank the charity and their local staff for their tremendous work.”
