The Hagie Gai Drammeh Foundation for the Physically Challenged recently donated essential items, including 22 school bags, foodstuffs, two 50kg bags of rice, clothes, shoes, and mattresses, to Bullock Arabic and Islamic School.

The presentation ceremony was held on Wednesday, 7 January 2026. The items were provided by the Foundation’s Canadian partners, Eric Muhammed and his wife Stancy, together with Debra and family, as well as contributions from the Corner Store in the United Kingdom.

The Foundation explained that Muhammed Eric and his partners are committed to supporting vulnerable communities, particularly schoolchildren facing challenges in their education.

Speaking to The Point newspaper, Hagie Gai Drammeh, founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Foundation, revealed that in addition to this donation, the couples have also extended support to the poor and distributed food packs to other communities and Arabic schools across the country.

Mr Drammeh noted that the Foundation had previously supported an orphanage in the Greater Banjul Area and the West Coast Region.

He expressed optimism that the donation of food, learning materials, and mattresses would contribute significantly to improving the education and wellbeing of students.

The National Assembly Member for Foni Berefet, Hon. Amie Colley, praised CEO Drammeh for his positive impact on the lives of the needy. She urged the community to pray for the Foundation and encouraged others to emulate the example in supporting rural communities.

Ansumana Fadera, Head of Bullock Arabic and Islamic School, acknowledged that the support would make a significant difference to the school and its students. He noted that since the establishment of the school, this was the first time they had received such assistance from an organisation like the Hagie Gai Drammeh Foundation.

Omar Drammeh, Chairman of Social Activities in the area, also appealed to humanitarian organisations to extend support to Arabic schools to strengthen their education systems.

Mariama Sanyang, speaking on behalf of the women’s group, thanked the donors and the Hagie Drammeh Foundation for their foresight. She emphasised that teaching children about religion is part of building their awareness of rights and instilling good moral values.

She further called on philanthropists and individuals to support Arabic schools with learning materials, highlighting the importance of education in shaping future generations.
