Senior officials from The Gambia Fire and Rescue Service (GFRS) and Senegal’s Brigade nationale des sapeurs-pompiers (BNSP) have reaffirmed their commitment to regional cooperation following a successful joint mission in Saint-Louis, Senegal.

The operation centred on the recovery of a donated fire engine that had been held due to procedural delays. The vehicle, gifted to GFRS by Emergency Service Aid (ESAC) in partnership with the Ebou Mala Children Charitable Foundation (EMCCF), had been under official confiscation pending clearance.

Led by Assistant Chief Fire Officer Masaneh S. K. Bah, the Gambian delegation included Assistant Chief Fire Officer Yaya Sonko, Divisional Fire Officer Pateh Gibba, Station Officer Ebrima Kujabi, and Sub Officer Tamba Jawo. The team was warmly received by General de Brigade Mamodou Ndoye, Chief Fire Officer of the Senegalese Fire and Rescue Service, who praised the enduring partnership between the two neighbouring services.

The visit provided a platform for both institutions to strengthen ties in emergency response coordination, logistics, and disaster management. Senegalese Customs authorities and the Fire Brigade extended full cooperation, ensuring that all administrative and logistical formalities were handled with professionalism and respect.

Instrumental to the mission’s success was Mr Ansumana Bojang, The Gambia’s Customs Attaché in Senegal, whose diplomatic engagement and mediation helped facilitate a smooth resolution.

The mission concluded with both services reaffirming their shared dedication to operational collaboration and regional disaster preparedness.

GFRS expressed its sincere appreciation to the Senegalese authorities, particularly the Customs and Fire Command for their exceptional support and hospitality, and extended special thanks to Mr Bojang for his unwavering commitment to fostering cross-border cooperation.
