The award is in recognition of his achievement and contribution to the advancement of literature and publishing in the United Kingdom and in The Gambia.
The award night was organized by the Gambian High Commission headed by Fatou Bensouda, former Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court.
Sillah was presented with the award by the Vice President, Muhammed B.S. Jallow, who was in the United Kingdom to witness the coronation of King Charles III.
Receiving the award, elated Sillah expressed gratitude to receive the award in recognition of his efforts over the years.
“I would like to express my sincere appreciation to the Government of the Republic of The Gambia under the leadership of President Adama Barrow for recognising my contribution towards nation-building. I am sure it will go a long way to inspire home-grown talent.” he said.
To that end, Sillah said he dedicates the award to his Jahanka ancestors, who he added, for many centuries dedicated their entire lives with a huge commitment to spread knowledge and guide mankind. “And I want to say big congratulations to all those who received award.”
