Renowned for quality deliverance in road construction, the group is also assisting local communities a great deal especially communities that continues to experience serious water crisis and urgently need assistance.
Meanwhile, the construction group is currently the contractor for the Lot 2 road construction project, which covers 50 kilometers across three routes: Karantaba-Reneru-Tabanani-Demfaya-Fitu Fulla.
During the recent nationwide tour by the Minister for Transport, Works, and Infrastructure (MOTWI) Ebrima Sillah to road infrastructure projects across the country, journalists caught up with Ing Jonas Agyemang, of Cornerstone Construction, where he shed light on some of their interventions.
He spoke of his company’s resolve to not only deliver quality works in their ongoing roads construction, but also deliver it within the specified timeline.
According to him, work on the project began in 2023 and significant progress has been made, particularly on the Karantaba-Reneru road, where most of the concrete structures are completed.
He added that earthworks at the base level are currently underway at Laminkoto, with concrete works set to begin this week.
Agyemang reassured the public that the project will be completed within the established timeline, which targets mid-2025.
“The project is progressing well, and we are not facing any major challenges that could delay the work.” Agyemang stated.
In addition to road construction, Cornerstone Construction has been actively engaged in corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives in the communities.
Residents of Raneru Wollof, a community situated in Sami District used to suffer a great deal in accessing potable water. As a result, some residents in the past even used to buy water from neighbouring villages in Senegal especially during the height of the 2020 Covid 19 pandemic.
To address the nightmare most of the residents go through, Cornerstone Group drilled a borehole for the community as well as provided food to some communities in the area.
Agyemang shared that the company has also employed around 32 casual workers, adding that additionally, 75 non-key staff are employed, with 40 of them being from the project corridor.
As part of their commitment to community welfare, the company also donated a pickup vehicle to the Njau Police Station to assist with community in patrols and enhance security.
Showing appreciation to the construction group, Reneru Wollof residents commended Cornerstone Construction for its remarkable contributions.
Yassin Bah, a middle-aged woman, thanked the company for bringing drinkable water to the community, saying, “This has been a big relief to us and our cattle.”
Marie Ceesay also expressed gratitude for the company’s support, particularly in engaging the youth and providing essential supplies to the community.
Cornerstone Construction’s efforts reflect a strong commitment to not only completing the infrastructure project, but also positively impacting the surrounding communities in its intervention sites.
