A Reproductive Health and Rights Perspective (2025) originally spearheaded by Professor Ngwena, this book provides a powerful and timely exploration of the legal, social, and ethical dimensions of abortion in Africa.
Despite post-colonial policy reforms, unsafe abortion remains a major public health issue. The collection of essays examines the persistent barriers to safe abortion services and advocates for reproductive justice across the continent.

Harmful Practices and Human Rights: An International Perspective (2025)

Co-edited by Ebenezer Durojaye, Satang Nabaneh, and Johanna Bond, this book explores harmful cultural practices from a global perspective drawing examples from Africa, Asia, North America, Europe, and Australasia. It underscores how such practices undermine the right to health, particularly sexual and reproductive health, and infringe on the dignity and autonomy of women and girls worldwide.

Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights in Sub-Saharan Africa: The Role of Digital Innovation and Emerging Technologies (2025)

This publication, edited by a team of experts, investigates the intersection of technology and reproductive health in Africa. It highlights how digital innovation can expand access to SRHR services while addressing the legal, ethical, and human rights challenges that accompany technological advancement.

Additionally, copies of Female Genital Mutilation in Africa: Politics of Criminalisation (2025), edited by Dr. Satang Nabaneh, were distributed during the ceremony. The book provides a critical analysis of the law’s evolving role in the fight against female genital mutilation (FGM) and the broader pursuit of gender justice on the continent.

The gala dinner served not only as a commemoration of Professor Ngwena’s academic excellence but also as a heartfelt tribute to his profound influence as a mentor and advocate. His teachings continue to inspire a new generation of African scholars dedicated to advancing human rights, gender equality, and social justice.
