
The theme of this year’s event was -‘Discipline in schools.’
Addressing the gathering, NdeyMbye, headteacher of Albion Primary School and Mr Peter Mendy of Wesley School, both highlighted the achievement in terms of academic success both schools have registered these past years.
However, one major challenge highlighted that is hindering effective learning at both institutions is the issue of space to expand and increase enrolment.
Also speaking, Ernest Aubee, who was the Guest Speaker at the event, dilated on the importance of the theme, saying discipline is key to achieving any meaning results.
He also maintained that discipline is the bedrock of any progressive and serious society, calling on pupils to shun vices that will have an impact on their lives.
He encouraged them to embrace discipline at all times, citing the fast-eroding nature of discipline in the homes, school setting and even the wider Gambian society.
In order to address the national challenge of indiscipline, he called for partnership to help tackle this growing negative phenomenon in society.
Prizes and certificates were presented to deserving pupils. The event was graced respectively by National Assembly Members for Banjul Central and Banjul North, AbdoulieNjai and ModouLamin Bah, parents, students, well-wishers and a cross section of community.
