Ousman Bojang, the alleged PIU shooter, has disclosed in his defence that when his alleged nude video was seen on social media, a police officer told him “not to go in public”.

Ousainou said this yesterday before Justice Ebrima Jaiteh of the Banjul High Court. He said when he reached out to the police officer, Sidi Sonko, the officer also confirmed to him that he saw the video on social media and advised him to avoid public places and public vehicles.

It would be recalled that Ousainou Bojang in his defence told the court that his friend told him his nude video was seen on the internet with a woman whose body was half shown.

Ousainou said when he heard about that, he then reached out to his sister, the second accused, to accompany her to the border where he could travel to Casamance.

“When I called my sister, I asked where she was and she responded that she was on her way to the Brikama market for shopping. I told her when she was done with the shopping, she could board a vehicle and meet me at Brufut but she told me to meet her instead. I told her I was advised not to go to the public or board a public vehicle,” Ousainou narrated.

Subsequently, he said his sister boarded a vehicle and met him in Brufut around 11 o’clock, and they boarded the same vehicle which was heading to Sukuta Jabang Traffic Lights. He said while they were onboard chatting with the taxi driver, heading to Sukuta Jabang Traffic Lights, they were stopped at the Sukuta Jabang Checkpoint by a police officer who was conducting a search.

He said that was when the taxi driver informed them that some police officers were killed there “last night”. “Then I told the driver, yes I saw it and heard about it,” he said, and they were allowed to pass.

Ousainou said when they got to the airport junction, they took a bend to go to Brikama, and since his sister was staying around New Yundum, she told him she was going to alight. “I begged her not to, let her accompany me to the border.”

He added that when they got to Brikama, they alighted and his sister told him they should board a vehicle to Giboro, but he told her that he was advised not to board a public vehicle or to be in public because his naked pictures were all over the media. “And because of that embarrassment, I don’t want to go into any vehicle,” he said.

He said he then told her that he was going to ask for a driver who could take him to Darsilami, adding that the driver charged them extra and he told the driver he was going to pay. “The driver drove us all the way to the border,” he said.

When they got to the border, he said, they found three cars at the garage, and opposite the garage were motorbikes. He said his sister then went and talked to one of the motorbike riders to take them to Casamance.

The motorbike rider charged him D250, he explained, but he gave him D300 because the rider said he was not having change of D50. He said they and the motorbike rider drove to Jululu.

On their way, Ousainou said, he recalled he left his smartphone at home and when he tried calling his sister, Amie Bojang, she did not pick. He said the sister later called back and he told her to tell his brother to unplug the phone from charging and keep it for him.

The case continues today.
