This was disclosed by Omar A.B. Njie, the country manager of the multinational energy firm, during the inauguration of an orphanage and Quranic memorisation centre in Brufut Medinah.
Mr Njie relayed: "It is a very auspicious occasion for me today, because today we're here standing post-departure of the powership. At the moment, our operations here in The Gambia, the powership has left but Karpowership is still here in The Gambia. We are still focusing on serving the good people of The Gambia.
"We have projects that we are working on with the Government of The Gambia, because some few years back, we have been discussing with the Government of The Gambia for a land-based project.
He added: "We were the only bidder and the successful bidder, and currently we are discussing with the government of The Gambia on this code to tender, which, if we become successful and signed a project with the government of The Gambia, Karpowership would be here to serve the people of The Gambia.
"We would design, construct, build a new land-based power plant here in The Gambia with brand new machines, and it will be a PPA contract that we will sign for the next 20 years, and we hope that will happen for the good people of The Gambia."
