For years, Gambians have debated whether former President Yahya Jammeh would ever return from Equatorial Guinea, where he has lived since leaving the country in 2017. His name has fueled whispers, arguments, predictions, and political folklore, some insisting he would never come back, others convinced he was simply biding his time.

The conversation reignited recently when Jammeh himself declared that he intends to return. In an audio circulating recently, Jammeh stated boldly that he fears nothing not even death and urging anyone who genuinely sympathises with the suffering of Gambians to rally behind the APRC. Thanking his supporters, he expressed confidence that his comeback is already written by destiny. “If Allah has written it, it shall happen,” he said.

The pronouncement triggered mixed reactions across the country: excitement for some, unease for others, and indifference for many who simply went about their day. Rumors multiplied, old political debates resurfaced, and social media buzzed with new speculation.

However, the APRC NAM Media Team has now issued a press release distancing the party from videos and audios circulating online which claim to reveal a specific date for Jammeh’s return. According to the statement, the dates being shared on TikTok and WhatsApp are “bogus,” and any official announcement will come solely from the party’s interim leadership and its verified media channels.

The press release noted that Jammeh himself has repeatedly said he expects to return “in November 2025,” but the exact date has yet to be finalised. The party stressed that no confirmed timetable has been issued, and urged supporters and the general public to remain calm and disregard unverified messages until an official communication is made.
