The Gambia has received its first flights as 2023-2024 tourists’ season begins in earnest. The flights were Gambia Experience from the UK and Corendon from Holland.

The Gambia Experience arrived with 175 while Corendon landed with 183.

The two aircrafts were received on arrival at the Banjul International Airport by GTBoard officials and tour operators.

Speaking to journalists shortly after the landing of the aircrafts, Foday Bah, head of marketing, Gambia Tourism Board, said they received the two maiden flights to finally mark the beginning of the tourists’ season.

“Gambia Experience will operate three flights per week like Corendon from Holland,” he said, adding that more flights are expected to land per week.

Bah called on more support to promote the Destination Gambia, adding that GTBoard is doing a lot of efforts to market and promote the Destination.  "It is also the responsibility of the hotel owners  to make sure that their apartments are up to standard."

He said no matter what marketing and promotion you do, if the standards are not there, at the end of the day, you may not get what you need.

He expressed satisfaction over the services at the airport, but pointed out that if a lot of flights happen to land at the same time, there is going to be some difficulties with space and the sides.

He therefore called on the airport authority to increase the quality of services.
