An association, called Patriotic Youth Association for Development, PYDA, based in Kanwally village, Foni Bondali recently donated five bags of groundnut and a certificate to the President’s Alternative Treatment Program, at a ceremony held at the Kanalai Alternative Clinic in Bakau.
Receiving the items on behalf of the hospital, the Director of President’ Alternative Treatment Program, Dr Tamsir Mbowe, said the donation is a clear manifestation and confirmation of the excellent work the President of the republic is doing for the nation and humanity at large.
He noted that the donated groundnut would improve the health status of the patients, as he stressed that the youths are the future leaders of the country.
For his part, Musa Mbye, the Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, noted that they are encouraged by the move of the Foni Kanwally youths, as according to him, efforts are being intensified to encourage attitudinal change among young people.
Mbye informed the gathering that the association was borne out of an inspiration, such as the achievements registered by the Gambian leader.
While stating that these young people have realised what the President is doing for the young people of the country, he said, they too had no choice but to complement his efforts.
He finally challenged the youths to keep the ball rolling, while assuring them of his ministry’s unwavering support.
Matar Kujabi, the National Assembly Member for the Foni Bondali District, said he was very much impressed with the association, considering the achievements they have registered since its inception three years ago.
He informed the gathering that the association is not only into agriculture, but also resource mobilisation to develop the country.
For his part, the Chairperson of the association, Demba Kujabi, expressed delight at the gesture. He described the Gambian leader as someone who is always answerable to the call of young people of the country.
He then thanked the Ministry of Youth and Sports for their persistent encouragement.
