United Stars FC are through to the league final of the Serrekunda East Sports Development Organisation (SESDO) after defeating Medina FC in their semi-final encounter by 5-4 on postmatch penalty shootout following a 1-1 draw after regulation time.
The match was played at the East Park on Tuesday 30 November 2010.
Lamin Saho gave Medina FC the lead in the 6th minute of the game from a penalty spot.
United Stars FC levelled the scoreline through goalkeeper Ebrima Jarju also from a penalty spot in the 29th minute when goalkeeper Sheikh Abraham brought down Ebou Faye inside Medina FC’s 18-yard box thus the first half ended 1-1.
As action resumed in the second period of the game, Alasana Marong and Aba Sanneh both had clear opportunities to register their names on the score sheet for Medina FC but failed to capitalise on their chances.
Buba Keita also had a chance to register his name on the score-sheet for United Stars FC but his shot was saved by goalkeeper Sheikh Abraham, which brought the game to a 1-1 draw resulting in a penalty shootout that ended 5-4 in favour of United Stars FC.
United Stars FC will now lock horns with the winner between Rangers FC against Cannon FC who were playing as of press time.
The final is scheduled to take place on 12 December 2010 at the Serrekunda East Mini-stadium.
Meanwhile, Ball Conge FC will battle it out with S. V. Laar FC in the knockout final at the Serrekunda East Mini-stadium on 10 December 2010.
