Mike Totzke, head coach of Young Africans FC, has said that “two teams today have to play on a farmer’s field where you can grow potatoes and onions but not to play football.”

He added: “I cannot understand why the Gambia Football Association is not using the field in Yundum (the FIFA Goal Project) when we have a very good artificial turf there.”

The pitch at Serrekunda East is “very bad”, he stated, noting that the game between Young Africans and Bakau United could not show good football due to the poor conditions of the field.

Because of the field, the game was not technical but we found a good way to leave the ball on our side to control the game,” he remarked.

He said football is a process and that every week they work to improve on their performance.

He had information about Bakau United prior to the game and worked on his tactics, which worked for them during the game, he said.

When you play in Brikama against Brikama United and take a point from them it is not bad,” he added, saying, “We had a good chance to beat Brikama United in their home ground.”

While expressing satisfaction in collecting four points from two games, he said they have to walk step by step, as well as wait and see what will happen in their next game against Armed Forces.

I am always looking forward to the next game and not the one after that,” he remarked, saying he cannot promise a win but will do everything possible to win that game as in football anything is possible.
