The Point newspaper has been given a prestigious award by Hearts of Africa, an international charitable organisation. The award was made because of the paper's dedication to factual reporting, educational content and entertainment value.
Speaking to this reporter shortly after the award was presented, the charity's representative in The Gambia, Mr. Lamin Kujabi, said The Point received the award because of the contribution the paper makes to national development in The Gambia. He said that The Point not only contributes nationally but also internationally through the dissemination of reliable, accurate information all over the world.
The country representative made his remarks on behalf of the director and founder of Hearts of Africa Mr. Samuel Burke.
Also awarded were GRTS, the Daily Observer and individuals who strive for the welfare of others.
