The
Gambia Standards Bureau in collaboration with the West Africa Constellation
Programme Tuesday organized a daylong workshop for commercial and industrial
operators in The Gambia and Italian companies, held at the Kairaba Beach Hotel.
The
business forum was aimed at connecting The Gambia and Italian businessmen on
development interventions for Gambian business protagonists that could
facilitate the transfer of technology, supply of machinery and materials of
certified quality interventions.
Papa
Secka, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Gambia Standards Bureau, in his
opening remarks, said the West Africa Constellation Programme is trying to
mobilise companies to intervene in various sectors in The Gambia.
He
added that they are keen to ensure that their services and products are of the
same quality as European and international quality. The chairman of WACP, Gian Matteo
Balestrine, said The Gambia is a good opportunity for the foreign company,
nothing that it is important to manage the interventions in respect of ethical
values with attention at the local plan of development.
The
Italian companies from diverse fields and WACP collaborate with the Gambia
Standards Bureau to mobilise investors like SORI TRONIC, which are mainly
focusing on cold wines, storage and refrigerators, BRAVO SVL for building and
construction sector, NO RADS IT Solution mainly for security purposes, and DPH
in the area of electrical fields.
The
uppermost aim of the workshop was to partner with the private sector in doing
business in their area of interest for The Gambia’s sustainable development.
