Lamin Gassama, head coach of Serekunda West has expressed delights for booking
their place into the final after eliminating Manjai 4-3 on post-match penalty shootout win in the
semi-final encounter played at the Serekunda East mini-stadium on Tuesday.
This
is the second time both teams are meeting each other after they earlier played
a goalless draw in their first meeting during the group stage.
According
to Coach Gassama, they lost their
opening encounter in the championship but still believed of making it to the
final, adding that Manjai is one of the best team in the tournament and are
very difficult to play against.
“We have a target, even though we lost our
opening game we still believed that we can make it to the final,” he said.
For
his part, Pa Modou Mbowe expressed disappointment and said that this is
football is winning and losing, adding that penalty is a game of luck.
“We
came into the game with the anticipation of reaching the final. We have taken
our defeat against Serekunda West in good faith,” he said.
According
to him, one of their problems for this encounter is that his side didn’t have
enough rest, only a day after their encounter against Bakau, adding that they
should’ve been given a little more time to rest before meeting Serekunda West
