Shop owner testifies in alleged theft case

One Alagie Jallow of Daranka village recently testified at the Brikama Magistrates’ Court before Magistrate Babucarr Secka in the trial of one Siaka Jammeh, who was charged with stealing.

Testifying, Alagie Jallow told the court that on 15th December 2010, he went to his shop and found that the roof of his shop was broken in, and that some items such as 34 mobile phones, marked Nokia, Samsung, LG, Gamcel and Comuim scratch cards were missing.

He said he reported the matter to the Yundum Police Station, and few days later he was called and informed that the accused, Siaka Jammeh, was arrested while trying to sell some phones.

Jallow added that, when the accused was arrested a laptop and some phones belonging to his colleague, one Modou Secka, were found with him, but his own missing items was not found with the accused person.

The case continues.
