Sheikh Omar Faye, who was serving as Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. at the Embassy of The Gambia in Washington DC, USA, has been granted appointment as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Gambia to the United States of America.

According to a government statement read last night by State TV, which announced the new appointment, “the Government of The Gambia is confident” that Ambassador Faye would enhance and promote the political and social relations, as well as the economic development, of both countries and people.

Faye was a former Minister of Sports, and later transferred to Mauritania as deputy ambassador before he was moved to the US as Chargé d’Affaires.
