Sanyang defeated Gunjur 1-0 to sealed a place in the finals of the ongoing Kombo South District Football Tournament organized by the Kombo South District Sports Committee (KSDSC) at the Box Bar Mini Stadium on Saturday.

The first period of the game was dominated and controlled by Sanyang, and they created numerous goal opportunities, and their efforts paid dividends in the 10th minute of the game, when midfielder Buba M. Bojang netted the opener from a brilliant header.

Winger Abdou Bojang alias Sula extended Sanyang’s lead in the 47th minute of the game after slashing through the Gunjur defence line to make it 2-0 for Sanyang, and dashed Gunjur’s hopes of coming back to their feet.

Gunjur fought back and pulled back one through winger Bakary Daffeh alias Kanu in the 67th minute of the game, which proved to be a consolation goal for Gunjur; and thus the game ended 2-1 in favour of Sanyang.

Sifoe also progressed to the final after their hard fought 2-1 win over Tujereng, in the other semi final game played at the Gunjur Nyamina Football Field on Sunday.

Sifoe opened the scoring through midfield general Abdou Joof in the 27th minute of the game from a goal mouth scramble, to give his side the lead, before Bekai Bojang sealed victory for Sifoe in the 65th minute of the game from a close-range strike.

Ousman Marenah netted a penalty for Tujereng in the dying minutes of the game, but this proved to be a consolation goal for Tujereng, and Sifoe will now face Sanyang in the finals.
