Red
Hawks are aiming to rejuvenate their lead in the 2016-2017 Gambia Football
Federation second division league when actions resume in the country’s second
tier today, Thursday 8 December 2016, after
the observation of December 1 presidential polls.
The
Hawks FC feeder team will host Blue Star in the week-four fixtures at the
Serrekunda East Mini Stadium, and will hope to beat Wellingara-based outfit to
rejuvenate their lead in the second tier after winning their three opening
league fixtures.
Blue
Star are struggling in the second tier after losing their three opening league
fixtures, and will target to defeat Red Hawks to move away from the red zone.
Lions
of Banjul will welcome relegated side Wallidan in the all-Banjul derby fixtures
at the Banjul KG5 Mini Stadium.
Wallidan
are among the teams contending for promotion to the top flight next season
following their demotion to the second tier after woeful campaign in the top
flight last season, and will strive to hammer Lions of Banjul in the all-Banjul
derby clash to maintain their hopes of regaining promotion to the top flight
next season.
Lions
of Banjul, on the other hand, are also among the teams vying for promotion to
the first division next season, and hope to bounce back in contention for
promotion to the premier after losing to second-place Kexx in their last league
fixtures.
Elsewhere,
Brufut United will lock horns with Banjul United at the Brikama Box Bar Mini
Stadium on the same day.
Brufut
United and Banjul United are both among the teams competing for promotion to
the first division next season, and will fight to trounce each other to keep
their chances of gaining promotion to the first division.
