Police officer testifies in theft case

Ebrima Camara, a police officer, Monday testified in the trial involving one Mariama Sanneh, charged with stealing from a dwelling house, before magistrate Fatou Darboe of the Kanifing magistrates’ court.

Officer Camara is a detective attached to Tallinding police station, and recognised the accused person.

He recalled that on 12 April 2014, he was on duty at the station when a complaint was made at the Bakoteh police station, and the matter was referred to him.

He went with the complainant to the accused person’s house, and took her to the Nemakunku police station. Subsequently, the house of the accused was searched, but nothing was recovered.

The accused was later taken to Bakoteh police station, where the complaint was lodged and handed over to the station officer.

The witness said he later made a statement.

Further hearing was adjourned to 9 July 2014.
