Police Inspector testifies in obstruction case

Inspector Adama Secka, a police officer attached to the New Yundum Police Station, recently testified in the trial of Momodou Bojang and Lamin Jassey at the Brikama Magistrates’ Court before Principal Magistrate Kemo Ceesay.

Momodou Bojang and Lamin Jassey are being tried on a charge of obstructing a police officer in the due execution of his duty. Both had denied the charge.

Testifying, Inspector Adama Secka told the court that on 17th October 2010, he boarded a vehicle going to Brikama when he met a crowd at New Yundum.

He added that in the crowd he identified 1st Class Darboe and Jallow, and he came out of the vehicle and went to find out what was happening.

He said officer Darboe told him that they came to arrest one Saja, but the accused persons were obstructing them.

Inspector Secka further adduced that he intervened, and both accused persons where subsequently arrested, and taken to the New Yundum Police Station.

The case was at that adjourned to 30th December 2010.
