National Female Team Leave Today For Zig

The Gambia National female team is expected to leave the country this morning by land to take part in a two-day international friendly match against a female selection from Ziguinzor in Cassamance, slated for Saturday and Sunday, respectively.

The first-ever Gambia female side since the establishment of GFA in 1959 are using these friendlies as part of  a preparatory step  before the start of the West Africa Football Union Championship (WAFU), scheduled to take place in the Federal Republic of Nigeria between July and August of this year.

According to the GFA President, Seedy MB Kinteh, the FA will also plan another international friendly match for the team before the championship proper in July.

Buba Jallow, the Head Coach, Mariama Sowe (BOM), Alhagie Marong, and Chorro Mbenga Assist. Coach, Sanna Bojang, Abdoulie Jeng, Halifa Manneh, Malafi Barry and Dawda Basaine will accompany the 25-woman squad.

The team is expected back home on Monday.
