The Mansally Foundation initiated by Gambian International football player Abdoulie Kenny Mansally over a year ago in the United States of America where he plays his club career with Real Salt Lake in the Major Soccer League, was last Thursday launched in The Gambia.
The launching of the foundation, which has been helping sectors as sport, health, education and the needy, took place at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium.
The occasion was graced by GFF president Lamin Kaba Bajo and Marcel Mendy, executive director of National Sports Council and also the secretary of the foundation.
Mr Mendy also represented the honorable minister of youths and sport.
The proprietor of Real de Banjul Willy Abraham was among those who graced the occasion.
In his opening remarks on the occasion, Mr Mendy gave an overview of the foundation saying that over the years he has been rendering support to needy people.
He said that in 2015 the foundation rendered some support in the form of giving rice, football, boots, and jerseys to the communities of Bwiam, Essau and Brufut.
He added that the foundation is also working hard to go countrywide.
In his remarks, GFF president Lamin Kaba Bajo said he was impressed with Abdoulie Mansally for his benevolent gesture and advised him to continue “the good work”.
For his part, Abdoulie Mansally explained how he got into the beautiful game with the inspiration of coach Saffie Sanneh, who gave him words of wisdom and encouragement.
