Principal Magistrate Effim of the Brikama Magistrates' Court recently convicted and sentenced one Nfamara Kurubally to a fine of D8, 000 on two counts of impersonation and forgery, in default to serve one year in prison.
According to the facts as narrated by police prosecutor 1st CC 2254 Ceesay, it happened on 17th April 2010, at the Banjul International Airport when the convict, Nfamara Kurubally presented to the officers at the Spanish Airline a passport in the name of Muhammed Kurubally.
He narrated that after a further check on the passport they discovered a forged stamp, when he was subsequently arrested and taken to the Airport Police Station where he was cautioned and charged with the offence committed.
The convict, who pleaded guilty to the charges, begged the court to temper justice with mercy.
