London Boys FC on Tuesday enjoyed a pulsating 2-1 win over Cannon FC in the ongoing late Abdoulie Njie Memorial Football Tournament at the Serrekunda Lower Basic School playground.
The eight-team tournament organised by Mustapha Drammeh, football programme officer for Serrekunda East Sports Development Organisation, is staged in memory of the late Abdoulie Njie who used to play for Nguma FC.
Tuesday’s encounter has seen both teams put up excellent performances couple with some collective teamwork but London Boys were able to keep hold onto their narrow lead throughout the remainder of the match.
The win has seen London Boys FC collect four points in two encounters the same number of points with Cannon FC, who also have bagged four points in three games.
Meanwhile, Wales FC will be hoping to bounce back from their 2-0 defeat in the hands of Cannon FC in their opening game of the competition as they prepare to take on Leeds at the Serrekunda Lower Basic School football ground today.
Leeds United will be aiming to maintain their perfect start to the tournament after enjoying a hard fought 1-nil win over Rangers FC in their opening game of the competition.
On Friday 19 August 2011, in the 3pm kick-off, Pencha Bi FC will entertain London Boys FC, who will be looking forward to maintaining their top form, while Pencha Bi FC will be fighting to secure their first win of the competition after settling for a 1-1 draw in their first game of the tournament.
In the 5pm encounter of the same day, Cambel Town FC will battle it out with Cannon FC.
