The founder cum executive director of Lamin Institute of Professional Studies (Lips), Dr Daniel Osagie, has spoken of the latest development that has taken place in Lips in recent times.
Speaking in an interview with The point last Wednesday at his office in Lamin, Dr Osagie said Lips was set up some years ago "to empower the youth and everyone in The Gambia" with sound entrepreneurial skills and also to contribute their quota towards national development.
The Nigerian-born computer wizard thanked God for helping them to achieve their aims and objectives since the inception of the institution. The institution has produced a good number of students in the past years, he said, adding that a good number of them are gainfully employed.
He added that some of the students are working with NGO and other civil organisations while others are working with private sectors.
According to Dr Daniel, some of the students have also travelled outside the country to further their education. "Based on the quality of the school people are coming all over to get higher education at the institution," he said. "We have being offering scholarships to the best students since 2008."
He explained that his institution "is here to complement the efforts of the government" in building the human resource of the country. Lips, he added, offers courses ranging from business management, to tourism and general subject.
Dr Daniel used the opportunity to send a congratulatory message to the Government of Nigeria, through the Nigerian Higher Commissioner to The Gambia on the occasion of the Nigeria's 50 years of Independence.
