The two teams ensured positions in the final after beating fellow semi-finalists.
Mass Sosseh beat Pakau Njogu 4-2 while Kerr Chebou claimed a 1-0 win over Pakau Saloum.
Both sides have very influential team captains in Cherno Omar Bah of Kerr Mama and Saihou Jobe of Kerr Chebou FC, who are to be watched in Sunday’s final.
Seven teams, namely Kerr Mama FC, Kerr Chebo FC, Kerr Dekodeh FC, Kerr Demba FC, Pakau Saloum FC, Pakau Njogu FC and Fass Omar Saho FC, took part in the annual village tournament, which kicked off last September and organised by the Kerr Mama Sports Committee headed by Bai Dodou Jallow in the Upper Niumi District of the North Bank Region.
The tournament, played in memory of the late Uncle Badou Jasseh, former chairman of the Gambia Referees Association, is sponsored by Baboucarr Jallow, a native of Kerr Mama Village, who is currently residing in the United States of America, where he is refereeing.
This initiative, according to Bai Dodou Jallow, is mainly to celebrate the late Badou Jasseh’s football legacy and help to bring into focus his immense contribution to the game in the country and beyond, such as his influential role in supporting and helping Kerr Mama duo Baboucarr Jallow and Maudow Jallow, who are now international referees thanks to the late Jasseh’s mentorship.
The winners are expected to receive a cash prize of D8, 000 and a giant trophy with medals.
