Judgement set in former Nianija MP case

The Banjul Magistrates’ Court yesterday adjourned the case of Dawda Manneh former National Assembly Member for Nianija Constituency in the Central River Region, and Demba Baldeh, for judgment.

Dawda Manneh and Demba Baldeh are standing trial on charges of being in possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking, as well as for conspiracy.

They allegedly conspired and trafficked 9 kilograms and 260 grams of a suspected drug, cannabis, in 2008.

When the case was announced, the presiding magistrate told the court that he needed at least three weeks to go through the evidence before he could deliver judgment.

The case was then adjourned till 20 January 2012, for judgment.
